Perm Sec Harps On ICT Culture
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Cross Rivers State, Mrs. Omotunde Ivara–Esu, has emphasized the need for Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to embrace modern innovations in Information and Communication Technology.
This was made known during an interactive session with newsroom staff of the ministry in her office.
She said the call became necessary in view of the cost of production and dissemination of information to the public on activities of government.
Ivara–Esu said the ministry cannot afford the cost of printing large numbers of the daily news bulletin copies as required by all the MDAs, stressing that if Heads of MDAs embrace modern communication technology such as the internet, the ministry could explore the option of cutting cost by using such avenue in sending the bulletin copies to them.
The permanent secretary urged all heads of ministries, departments and agencies to send their e-mail addresses to the newsroom to enable the ministry forward information to them through their e-mail, instead of waiting for hard copies on government’s projects and programmes.
