NCC Debunks Blackberry Rumour
Following the rumour making the rounds that Blackberry (BB) services may be suspended, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), says it has no such plans yet.
A statement signed by the commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Tony Ojobo and made available to the press over the weekend, said it had plans to protect Nigerian subscribers while enjoying blackberry services.
According to Ojobo, the commission was wrongly quoted to have met with some big wigs in the telecommunication industry to stop the services offered by Blackberry.
He regretted that people could incite unsuspecting members of the public against the NCC despite its commitment to render quality services to the public.
He advised members of the public, especially Blackberry owners, to disregard such rumour, adding that there was no resolution to shut down Blackberry services.
Furthermore, he had advised network providers to go about their normal business and make telecommunication services available for the people as well as that of Blackberry.
He noted that the rumour was linked to the planned protest by the organised labour in order to foil free information dissemination to the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, he has promised on behalf of the commission to always feed members of the public with the right information.
