Former Councillorship Candidates Declare Support For Fubara

Councillorship candidates for the 319 Wards of Rivers State, drawn from
different political parties that participated in the recently concluded October 5 local government elections in the State have declared their support for the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The group, operating under the aegis of Rivers State Coalition of Ward Councillorship Candidates for Sim, expressed delight over the leadership model and peaceful disposition of the governor, which they noted conduced to peaceful and credible local government elections in the State despite the absence of the police.
The group, in a communique issued in Port Harcourt and made available to the press stated that, as firsthand participants and witnesses to the lawful electoral processes that coalesced into rancour-free local government elections, conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and other developmental strides recorded in the state within a short period of time, Governor Fubara has shown great leadership capabilities and deserves their total support.
The communique which read in parts, and signed by, Justice Barinordum Tom, Chairman/convener, Inyie Okpukpo, vice chairman, and Moses Pamene, secretary, stated that; “we are very proud of your resilience, courage and doggedness in defence of democratic ethos, as against the enemies of good governance who were robbing our people of elected representatives at the grassroots.”
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for making adequate funds and logistics available to RSIEC for the successful conduct of the October 5 local government elections in the State, and commend your swift response in heeding to the Federal Government’s directive, and the aftermath of a Supreme Court judgment, that abolished caretaker committees as temporary heads of the third tier of government in Nigeria.”
“ We are also impressed by the Governor’s decision to implement the court order that gave the state’s election umpire the legal backing to conduct elections for the 23 LGAs and 319 councillorship seats in the state, just as it was carried out across the nation.”
“You have always advanced the need for inclusivity for peace and progress, we are therefore appealing for opportunities and consideration into various strata of your administration to enable us contribute our quota to the growth and political stability of our different localities.
The group which commended Governor Fubara for his boldness to defend the truth and develop the State in the face of glaring challenges, described him as a leader that is completely attuned with the vision of the founding fathers of Rivers State and urged Rivers people to support the Governor to dispense good governance and democratic dividends in the state.
“You have always advanced the need for inclusivity as a criteria for peace and progress, we therefore appeal for opportunities and consideration into various strata of your administration to enable us contribute our quota to the growth and political stability of our different localities.”
