Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Kayode Egbetokun, has disclosed that a special intervention squad would be launched in Kaduna to tackle the menace of insecurity.
Egbetokun disclosed this to newsmen after meeting with Governor Uba Sani at the Government House on Tuesday in Kaduna.
The I-G said it was time for action and doing everything possible to ensure the safe return of the abducted school children in Kuriga, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.
He added that the commanders of the special intervention squad had been trained, while the men were currently undergoing training.
The I-G equally disclosed that the first batch of the special squad would pass out from training soon .
He said after their passing out, they would be deployed immediately to commence action.
Afterwards, Egbetokun, who was also on a maiden working visit to the Police command, commended the personnel for their dedication and commitment to duty in ensuring security in the state.
He, however, frowned at some of the Police personnel who were bent on tarnishing the image of the force, urging the commanders to always fish them out for appropriate sanction.
The I-G emphasised that he would emplace a police force that is people friendly and abiding by the rule of law.
“We want a Police that will be loved by everybody. If the Police serve the people well and they pray for them, the prayers will follow them and their children,” he said.
Describing the commissioner of Police in the state as a no nonsense man who was deliberately chosen to head the Police in Kaduna, he urged him to tirelessly continue instilling discipline to the personnel.
The I-G also urged the personnel on selflessness in service and doggedness in tackling insecurity in the state,
Ealier, Audu Dabigi, the commissioner, said since his inception of duty in the state, they recorded huge successes against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of insecurity in the state.
He thanked the I-G for his support, while soliciting for more, to continue defeating criminality in the state.
