Group Condemns Attack On Olu Of Warri’s Delegation
A non-governmental organisation, Children of Drivers and Fishermen Association, (CODAFA), has strongly condemned the recent attack on some of its members during the visit of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll to Okere Community.
Pandemonium ensued recently when the monarch visited the community located at Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State as part of the activities to mark the end of Okere Community’s royal palace guard.
The Chairman and Secretary of the association, Akpeja Romeo Diden and Akpeja Blessing Okotie said this in a statement made available to journalists Tuesday in Warri.
The statement condemned “the barbaric attack on members of the community including the secretary of the association who were there to rejoice with Okere Community” describing the act as an aberration.
According to him, “such selfish avarice sponsored attack by some unscrupulous elements in the kingdom will no longer be tolerated” warning that “it won’t be business as usual as the law must take its course. “
Romeo further said that there is only one king in Warri Kingdom and everyone must come under his authority, insisting that whoeever feels too big to succumb to his authority can create his own kingdom.
It would be recalled that the Warri Monarch recently visited the Okere Community which has been keeping watch over the palace of the Olu of Warri since December 2023.
The community will be handing over the baton to another community later this month as part of Ogiame Atuwatse III’s Ghigho Aghof¹n Royal Change of Guard
