Fubara Decorates ADC, Camp Commandant With New Ranks
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday, decorated his Aide De Camp (ADC), Mr. Iwuji Barnabas Iliya, with his new rank of Superintendent of Police.
The governor also decorated the Camp Commandant, Mr. Adonoja Simon Onoja, with his new rank as Superintendent of Police.
The brief ceremony that took place at the Government House, Port Harcourt, was witnessed by the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Olatunji Disu.
Speaking to newsmen after the ceremony, the State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, who congratulated the gallant and distinguished officers for their elevation, noted how exciting it was to be decorated with a new rank.
“The police authority must have seen them to be worthy of the new rank for all they have been doing as police officers; protection of lives and property, and most especially, for working and excelling in a place of esteem.
“The government has seen them worthy. The police authority has seen them worthy. So, that is why they have been promoted today”, he said.
Expressing his gratitude, the ADC to Governor Fubara, Mr. Iwuji Barnabas Iliya, said he was the most honoured and privileged individual in the Nigeria Police Force, having been blessed with such privilege to be promoted as a Superintendent of Police.
“And also, being privileged to be decorated by my Principal, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, in company of my wife and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Olatunji Disu”, he added.
He particularly thanked the Inspector General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun and the Police Service Commission (PSC) for the honour done him, by rewarding his hard work and commitment with the promotion.
According to him, “I think, there is no amount of words that can express the level of gratitude this noble opportunity has accorded to me.”
On his part, the Camp Commandant of Government House, Mr. Adonoja Simon Onoja, said it was a great honour to be decorated with his new rank by Governor Fubara.
“I am grateful to the Inspector General of Police. I am also grateful to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Mr Olatunji Disu, and most especially, His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State for the privilege and honour given to me.
“I am equally eternally grateful to God Almighty for promoting me to the next rank. I am grateful. I cannot thank all those who made this success story possible enough. I am indebted to them. And I commit not to disappoint,” he said.
While Fubara and Mrs Jennifer Chidera Iwuji decorated the Aide De Camp, Mr Iwuji Barnabas Iliya; the Camp Commandant, Mr Adonoja Simon Onoja, was decorated by the Governor and the State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
