PDP Chieftain Scores LG Boss High On Projects’ Execution …Backs Fubara/Ordu Guber Ticket
A frontline politician in Rivers State and Head of Unit Six, Ward Six in Oyigbo Local Government Area, Elder Peter Eteh, has scored the Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Council, Hon Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu, high in governance performance within the past one year.
He said the chairman has performed creditably in the area, especially in capital projects execution, saying that projects have been judiciously executed.
Speaking with journalists in Opobo, last Saturday during the grand finale of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) Collection Sensitisation rally organised by the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI, the chairman said the council would come up with policies that have direct-bearing on the lives of the people.
He maintained that Nwaogu, who was able to distribute multiple empowerment largesse to Oyigbo people since assumption of duties, especially organisation of training retreat for Oyigbo lawmakers; the renovation, furnishing and equipping of Oyigbo Legislative Assembly buildings; the creation of environmental and waste management team; and the rebuilding of OyigboWomen Development and Skill Acquisition Centre at Obeakpu-Ndoki.
Others, he said, include the mobilisation of Oyigbo residents to participate in the just-concluded Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)Continuous Voters’ Registration(CVR); youth empowerment and engagements in government programmes; setting up of revenue and decongestion committee, provision of free medical outreach in collaboration with the Nigerian Army; procurement of office equipment and the renovation and equipping of the vice chairman’s office with modern gadgets, as well as provision of logistics support to INEC in the area, among others.
Eteh described Nwaogu as a distinguished gentleman and manager of human and material resources, who has changed the tide in the area positively with numerous development projects and people-oriented programmes.
He further said that the chairman’s achievements in spite of the council’s lean resources and harsh economic realities in Nigeria, were remarkable and worthy of commendation.
Eteh stressed that governance in Nigeria in the past seven years has been quite challenging, lauding Nwaogu for bringing peace, unity and development to Oyigbo communities.
He admonished Oyigbo electorate to support the chairman and his team of technocrats on their quest to build better development bridges for them.
Meanwhile, Elder Peter Eteh has urged residents of Oyigbo and Nigerians to stand their ground and support the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February and March 2023 general election in Rivers State, Sir Sim Siminialayi Joseph Fubara.
He stressed that voting for Sir Sim Fubara and his running-mate, Prof Ngozi Ordu; and other PDP candidates would create room for purposeful leadership that would provide transformation of various dimensions for the people.
Eteh warned against the temptation of voting for the opposition parties, which may cause hunger, sufferings, insecurity and misgovernment, adding that,”We should ensure that Fubara, Ordu and others scale through the election hurdles which will either make or mar our future.”
