Again, RSG Begins Retirees’ Gratuity, Pension, Death Benefits’ Verification

The Rivers State Government has announced the commencement of the second phase of the verification exercise for the payment of gratuity, pension arrears and death benefits of retirees of the state public service.
Those affected by the fresh exercise are retirees who exited the state civil service between July, 2014 and December, 2015.
A statement signed by the Director-General of the Rivers State Pension Board, Ijeoma Samuel, said that the exercise would commence on July 20, through August 26, 2022.
The statement titled, “Second Phase Verification Commences in the Rivers State Public Service”, was dated July 15, 2022.
It read in full: “The second phase of the verification exercise for payment of gratuity, pension arrears and death benefits for retirees in the Rivers State Public Service as approved by Governor Nyesom Wike is scheduled to commence from July 20 to August 26, 2022, and covers retirees from July, 2014 to December, 2015.
“All retirees to be affected in this exercise are please requested to take note of their scheduled dates and to come with the relevant documents as follows:
“For gratuity and pension arrears – documents include; pension ID card, retirement letter, computation, authority for payment of retirement benefit as well as their BVN printout.
“For death benefits – documents include; death certificate, letter of administration/estate letter, computation, authority for payment of death benefit, next of kin ID card.
“The schedule dates are as follows: Retirees from July 2014 to December 2014 are to appear on July 20 through July 22, 2022.
“Retirees from January 2015 to March 2015 are to appear on July 25 through July 29, 2022.
“Retirees from April, 2015 to June, 2015, are to appear on August 1 and conclude their verification on August 5, 2022.
“Retirees from July, 2015 to September, 2015 will take their turn from August 8 to August 12, 2022.
“Retirees from October, 2015 to December, 2015 will be verified from August 15 to August 19, 2022”.
The statement further indicated that those affected who could not be verified on the above dates will have another window to get their document vetted within the same month.
The statement said, “Spillover from July, 2014 to December, 2015, will take their turn on August 22 and end on August 26, 2022”.
Ijeoma warned that “All retirees are by this release requested to adhere to their scheduled dates of appointments.
“Finally, all retirees are advised to avoid the presentation of false documents. Already, three persons involved in the illegal procurement of fake ID cards and other documents have been apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation and subsequent prosecution”, the statement added.
