We’ve Paid 15,793 Ad-Hoc Staff, RSIEC Confirms
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) says it has so far paid, 15,793 out of 16,000 ad-hoc staff engaged by the commission during the April 17, 2021 local government council elections in the state, adding that the commission would pay every legitimate worker engaged during the process.
The Chairman of the commission, Justice George Omereji (rtd), stated this when he granted in audience, the executive members of the Judiciary/Crime Correspondents Association, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, yesterday, in Port Harcourt.
Omereji announced that a total of N266million has been paid to the 15,793 ad-hoc staff so far verified by banks, saying that inadequacy and improper personal data submitted by the affected ad-hoc staff was responsible for the huge challenge the bank has in uploading their payment.
He added that efforts were being made to address the genuine complaints raised.
He expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the successful conduct of the local government council elections across the 23 LGAs, nothing that throughout the elections, there was no loss of human life or violence recorded.
“Let me thank God that throughout the election period, there was no record of killing or insecurity. I am very happy that we made this remarkable achievement and success”, he stated.
The RSIEC boss used the opportunity to thank the police and other security agencies in the state, journalists and staff of the commission for their efforts that led to the success of the elections.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the group, Deacon Samuel Chinda, said the essence of the visit was to congratulate the chairman and his team for successful April 17 LG elections in the state, adding that the group was very happy with the feat achieved.
