Fintiri Orders Civil Servants To Work From Home
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has directed civil servants on grade levels one to 14 to work from home.
The governor’s directive which takes immediate effect was issued yesterday.
In a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri said the directive would last for the next two weeks after which it would be reviewed as exigencies of the coronavirus pandemic would dictate.
He added that people on essential services are excluded from the directive, indicating such categories of workers as those in health delivery, workers in water board, fire service, board of internal revenue, as well as security men, abattoir and media workers.
The governor regretted the inconveniences the directive would cause, stressing that it was decided purely to ensure the safety of people against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor reiterated the need for all concerned to observe basic hygiene practices like frequent hand washing and social distancing.
On its own, the Adamawa State Command of the NSCDC said it deployed 300 officers across the state in its own contribution to the efforts against coronavirus.
The state commandant of the corps, Nurudeen Abdullahi, told newsmen yesterday that in the spirit of the deployment, officers of the command had on Wednesday dispersed a group of people who gathered for a wedding party at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat in the state capital, Yola.
He added that the deployment was a directive from the NSCSC headquarters in Abuja.
“The trained operatives drawn from crisis management department, divisional offices and area commands will be on surveillance duty, enforcing social restrictions and responding to coronavirus emergency,” he explained.
He said the operatives would work 24 hours daily in collaboration with sister security agencies as well as state health officials and members of the state taskforce against spread of coronavirus.
