Enugu Police Parade 77 Suspects
It was a harvest of suspected criminals in Enugu last Tuesday as the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, paraded 77 of them at the State Police Headquarters, over their alleged involvement in various crimes ranging from unlawful possession of firearms,conspiracy and armed robbery,kidnapping, cultism, burglary, car snatching,stealing, among others.
The Police Commissioner stated that the suspected criminals committed the crimes within the state in the last four months.
Mr. Abdurrahman, said that 16 assorted arms were recovered in the period under review by the command, adding that the command also recovered 122 ammunitions of various caliber and 30 live cartridges within the same period.
According to him, other items recovered between September 1 and December 31 included: six vehicles (cars); six tricycles; two motorcycles; five handsets, five wraps of cocaine, one small axe and one toy gun.
The commissioner said that the command achieved the feat through the ongoing Operation Puff Adder and the commitment of officers and men of the command.
He also thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his support in terms of logistics, adding that the 65 vehicles donated by the governor to the command had greatly assisted in crime fighting and security surveillance.
Abdurrahman noted that on December 23, operatives of Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested Mr Ogbonna Nwasibe, 19, for unlawful possession of firearm while conducting a stop-and-search, pointing out that one locally-made double barrel gun was recovered from the suspect.
The commissioner said that SARS also arrested one Ugwu Chinaza, 20, who reside at Ibeagwu Nike in Enugu East council area, for conspiracy and armed robbery.
“The SARS operatives recovered one tricycle, which has been released to the owner on bond’’, he said.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
