Film Institute Partners German Counterparts On Masters Degree Programme
The National Film Institute (NFI), Jos says it is collaborating with its German counterparts to run a Masters degree programme in film culture and archival studies.
Among the collaborating institutes are German Institute, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Deutsche Film Institute, Film Museum, Frankfurt and Arsenal Institute for Film and Video, Berlin.
NFI, in a statement issued by Mr Brian Etuk, Head, Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, said that the programme, the first to be offered in Africa, would commence in the 2019/2020 academic session.
“The programme is objectively designed to meet the trajectory necessities of providing in depth knowledge for the management of creative works and audio-visuals,” the statement made available to The Tide source yesterday in Jos, said.
Etuk said that the courses to be taught would cover a broad range of practical, theoretical and thematic film archiving.
“Key elements of the strategic approach of the postgraduate degree programme are the development of advanced archiving skills and management for the preservation of cultural and audiovisual heritage.
“The programme’s module includes lectures and tutorials as well as workshops with personal and field studies to help the students attain specialised knowledge and skills in digitisation, preservation, codification and classification, among others,” he said..
