MAN’s AGM: 75 Companies, Banks Set To Participate In Exhibition
The Chairman of the Rivers/ Bayelsa States branch of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Prince Charles Beke has said that about 75 companies, banks SMEs and national agencies have concluded plans to attend its 2018 exhibition during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) tomorrow in Port Harcourt.
Stating this while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Beke also revealed that up to 5,000 persons are expected to visit various stands during the event which would place the group’s AGM at the 34th position.
According to him, all the companies listed in the programme would be exhibiting their products manufactured in the two states, to prove that locally made goods are of comparative advantage over the foreign products.
The industrialist reasoned that it was about time Nigerians fled from foreign-made products, if they are supportive of the Local Content growth.
“All the companies will showcase their high quality products made here in Rivers and Bayelsa States to prove to everyone that our products have comparative advantage over foreign manufactured products”, he said.
The Rivers and Bayelsa MAN boss further hinted that business discussion, enquiries, discount sales, customer education and enlightment are part of features that would add colour to the event.
Others include, bank account opening, product demostrations and free gifts which would be declared open by MAN President, Dr Frank S.U. Jacobs.
He attributed the success story of his association to what he tagged as “smooth media partnership”, which, he said, has so far paid off.
The businessman explained that the media was very supportive of their advocacy for conducive operating environment in the two states.
He also recalled that through the power of the press, the campaign for the patronage of made in Nigeria goods gained a vintage position in the mind of the people.
The AGM, which has the theme: “The Challenges of Manufacturing in a Globalised Economy”, would be anchored by an Economist, Prof Mike Kwanashie, who also is the Vice Chancellor of the Veritas University, Abuja.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
