Mrs Wike Plans Book Clubs …To Encourage Reading Culture
The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike has stated that she will establish book clubs in schools, where young people will be nurtured in the art of creative writing, promotion of literature and the development of their talents.
Speaking last Saturday during the official presentation of a book titled, ‘Street of Hustle’ by Precious Anuonyeh in Port Harcourt, Justice Nyesom-Wike said that she will always create the right platform for youth to attain their dreams.
Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Social Media, Mr Oraye St. Franklyn, the wife of the Rivers State governor said encouraging youth to stay on the right track was necessary for societal stability.
Justice Nyesom-Wike praised the literary work of the author, saying that he has added value to the state’s pursuit of strategic approaches to close the knowledge gap.
She said: “I urge Nigerians to support authors so that they can write books that will help people build moral values that will shape the society.
“Rivers State is proud of the author, and we look forward to more successes from him. This is a step in the right direction”.
According to her, Rivers State Government will continue to promote the successes of young people by creating the enabling environment for them to develop their talents and excel.
The Rivers State governor’s wife appealed to young people to listen to different episodes of her programme, ‘RivEthics’ on different radio stations as it promotes moral rebirth and reorientation for the development of the state.
Speaking, the author of ‘Street of Hustle’, Precious Anuonyeh, thanked the wife of the Rivers State governor for her support, noting that he will remain focused all through his writing career.
The official presentation of ‘Street of Hustle’ attracted the many dignitaries, including those in the academia, as well as politicians, youth and women groups.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
