RSG Condoles With Judiciary Attack Victims …Says 5th Columnists At Work Again
The Rivers State Government has condoled with the victims and families of last Tuesday’s attack at the State Judiciary Complex in Port Harcourt that left two private security guards dead and two others in critical conditions even as it has described the attack as barbaric and uncalled for.
The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Emmanuel C. Aguma, who sent this message on behalf the State Government while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Wednesday, described the perpetrators of the act as callous.
He stated that the perpetrators of the act want the State judiciary to experience the black days again when the State Courts were shut, adding that their evil plans have failed.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said the aim of the planners of the attack was to create a picture to the world that the state was not peaceful, especially for the up-coming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National delegates Convention, the Federal High Court law week and the Magistrates’ Convention, all billed to hold in the state.
He added that such impressions cannot be sustained as people, he said, have already expressed their confidence in the present administration in the state.
“Some fifth columnists want to drag us back to the era when our courts were closed. The same people are out again.
“On April 21, 2016 when IG’s move to withdraw the criminal case was rebuffed, that same date, the Police stopped sending personnel to the court,” Aguma said.
He gave the names of the private security guards killed during the attack as Nnekama Buelong from Okrika and Promise Omenewo from Ikwerre local government areas, while Mr. Bassey Okon from Akwa-Ibom State was in critical condition, adding that they all belong to BIMS Security Company.
