Banigo Tasks Clerics On Rivers Interest
The Rivers State Government has called on the people of the state, irrespective of their political affiliation, to join hands with the present administration in efforts to move the state forward.
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, stated this, when officials of the Niger Delta Diocese of the Anglican Communion, led by Bishop Ralph Cornelius Ebirien, paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Banigo assured religious leaders that the present administration would collaborate with them in the advancement of the kingdom of God for the benefit of the state.
She pointed out the hand of God was in their victory at both the Supreme Court and the recent rerun elections, adding that the government would continue to be grateful to God and people of the state for their steadfast belief in the mandate of the NEW Rivers Vision.
“As a government, we are happy to see the kingdom affairs advance, and we shall continue to partner the church in the development of the kingdom principles.”
The deputy governor charged them to continually pray for the leadership of the state, assuring that the task of developing the state requires collective effort.
Earlier, Bishop of Niger Delta Diocese, Rt Reverend Ralph Cornelius Ebirien, who spoke through the Synod Secretary, Venerable Christian Abbey-Kalio, had lauded the present state government for taking up the completion of abandoned projects by the previous administration that are beneficial to the people.
He used the occasion to formally invite the state government to participate in the fourthcoming synod of the diocese holding from April 28 to May 1st, 2016, and assured the administration of the support of the church to achieve good governance.
The bishop noted with happiness that it was the first time in the history of Rivers State that the governor and his deputy are members of the Anglican Church community, urging them to be good ambassadors of the church.
High point of the visit was intercession for the government and people of the state by the bishop.
