We’ll Promote Youth Empowerment, Econ Dev -King Jaja
The Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, has assured that he would use the office to promote economic development of communities and address youth unemployment in the state.
The traditional ruler stated this yesterday when the Port Harcourt branch of the King Jaja Warcanoe House of Opobo Kingdom paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.
King Jaja noted that there was need for all communities in the state to have basic social amenities like access roads, constant electricity, transportation and water to promote self-employment and small-scale industries.
He commended the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for his commitment to the completion of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road, saying that he was confident that the governor will complete the road next year as promised.
King Jaja also assured that efforts would be made to provide potable drinking water, befitting cemetery in Opobo Kingdom, saying that the age-long trend of burying corpses in homes, not only pollutes the underground water from which the people drink in wells but also litters the community with graves.
The Opobo Monarch expressed appreciation of the increased visibility his historic Kingdom was attracting and assured that with the assistance of a supportive government, such as Wike’s such basic expectations would be met, especially the linking of the kingdom to the national grid.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Port Harcourt branch of the King Jaja Warcanoe House, Senibo Donald Mike Jaja had congratulated King Dandeson Jaja on his appointment and thanked the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the choice.
Mike-Jaja who is also a Director and Deputy Editor at the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation noted that Opobo Kingdom was bound to attract greater visibility and visits following the appointment of King Dandeson Jaja and appealed to him to use bis good offices to ensure provision of basic social amenities including regular electricity supply, and easy transport facilities to the Kingdom.
