Union Distances Self From Purported Removal Of Unit Chairman
The Rivers State chapter of the Nigerian Civil Service Union (NCSU) has distanced itself from the purported removal of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Board unit Chairman of the union, Mrs Kesiyesima Asi West.
This was contained in a resolution at the end of the union’s meeting in Port Harcourt.
The union which described the purported removal as the handiwork of detractors, said that it was not aware of the development.
A factional State Chairman of the union, Comrade Ade Asiebu said that both the State Executive and the various units Chairman were not against her.
Comrade Asiebu urged Mrs West not to be deterred by the rumour of her purported removal, stressing that those peddling the rumour were trying to slow down the activities of the unit.
He described her as a woman of virtue, clean and reliable and an asset needed in the running of the council.
Speaking, Chairperson of Universal Basic Education (UBE), Mrs Kesiyesima Asi West described the announcement of her impeachment by a faction of the council as false and should not be taken seriously.
She alleged that the former Chairman of Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Rivers State Council, Mr. O.T. Lilly West was the brain behind her said impeachment.
According to her, the former Chairman has no right to move for her impeachment in the council.
She noted that it is only her unit Chairman who has the right to move for her removal from office.
Mrs West lauded the Chairmen for their confidence in her administration, adding that such encouragement would trigger her to deliver on her mandate.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Unit, Pastor Dame T. Abel said all the 23 unit Chairmen including the headquarter Chairman were solidly behind her.
He also advised her not to be swayed by these distraction but remain as the leader of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Unit, Rivers State.
