The Rivers State
Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has empowered over 300 Rivers youths under the Promise Franchise Scheme.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Promise Restaurant, Pastor Oluwatoyin Alabi, who disclosed this during the commissioning of the Promise Restaurant Okrika, also said that a whopping sum of N1.5 billion has been generated by the scheme in four years.
The scheme is currently operating outlets in Omoku, Ahoada, Bori, Elele, Eleme and Okrika. Pastor Alabi said that, the scheme conceived in 2009 was in response to the economic situation of Rivers state, stressing that since 2009, more Rivers youths had become entrepreneurs through the scheme.
He said that the management was also working hard to ensure that the entire state was covered, stressing that in the next one month, The Promise outlets in Bonny and Buguma would be commissioned.
Also speaking the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Mr. Noble Pepple described the commissioning ceremony as a promise fulfilled, noting that the development was in line with the commitment of the State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to raise grassroots millionaires in the state.
Mr. Pepple said that the idea was to explore available business potentials across the state to improve the livelihood of the people.
According to him, through the programme, a number of millionaires have been raised in the state, while more are waiting to be raised.
He charged the people of Okrika to see the outlet as their own, noting that it behoves them to protect it from vandalisation.
The commissioning was done by the Chairman, Board of RSSDA, Rev. Precious Omuku.
