Navy Raises Alarm Over Fake Facebook Account
The Nigeria Navy
has said it had noticed a fake Facebook account in which fraudsters wrote a telephone number for the public to call for enlistment into the navy.
In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday the Navy said that the account was falsely claimed to belong to the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Usman Jibrin.
The statement was signed by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabir Aliyu. It said that the account was fake.
“Therefore, any person who subscribes to this Facebook account for the purpose of enlisting into the navy does so at his or her own risk.
“The valid support lines to call in respect of the forthcoming 2014 Navy Recruitment are 08124511398 and 08159999011,” he said.
Aliyu said that the Navy could not be held responsible for any damage suffered by members of the public who would subscribe to the account.
