Eastern Ports Police Boss Assures On Adequate Security

lice in-charge of Eastern Port Police Command, Mr James Olatunji Caul-crick said the command is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring adequate security at the ports.
Caulcrick made this assertion during a chat with The Tide correspondent in his office at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Port Harcourt Port on Thursday.
He said the command is mindful of the current challenges in the country and had beefed up security at the ports in-order to ensure that there is no room for any act of sabotage or security lapses.
The Eastern ports police boss hinted that he had instructed his officers and men to be extra vigilant to forestall any criminal activities at the ports under the command, stressing that efforts were being intensified for the deployment of Explosive Device Department to boost security at the ports.
According to him, although there had not been any serious security challenges since he assumed duty as Commissioner of Police, Eastern Ports Police command, pointing out that, “No serious challenges in policing duties as officers and men are effectively providing the services as constitutionally required to satisfy all port users”.
Caulcrick noted that the command is interfacing with other security agents and stakeholders to maintain peace and security stressing that there is no cause for alarm despite the need for additional manpower to strengthen the command.
On the issue of dock workers’ salary delay and alleged illegal deduction by NPA at Port Harcourt port and NIMASA, he said efforts were being intensified to create a platform for peaceful dialogue, and amicable settlement for a favourable business atmosphere, and assured that subsequent meetings would ensure lasting solution among the Dockworkers which included the Tally Clerks, onboard security men, officials of the Nigeria Ports Authority as well as NIMASA in the state.
The police boss also assured on the dispute between Ogu and Onne communities as well as concessionaires with a view to reconciling them for business growth.
He noted that they are mindful of the on going projects on the expansion of facilities at the different ports of Port Harcourt, Warri and Onne, as plans were being intensified to meet up the security challenges at the ports, and solicited for more co-operation with all security agents and stakeholders in the zone.
