Boko Haram Threatens To Kidnap More Girls
Boko Haram has vowed to kidnap more school children. According to a member of the group who spoke yesterday, during an interview with American commercial broadcast television network, CBS, the girls were abducted because there were enemies among them.
“You see the enemies among the children. You cannot differentiate the children. You understand?” the Boko Haram member who gave his name as Saleh Abubakar said.
Meanwhile, the sect member debunked the story that some of the girls were sick in their camp and require medical attention, adding that he saw them three weeks ago, and all of them were doing fine.
“It’s a lie”, he said. “They don’t have any problem at all”.
However, contrary to an earlier threat by the group leader, Abubakar Shekau that the girls would be sold to slavery, Saleh said because they had converted willingly to Islam, they won’t be sold again.
He insisted that the government must first release all Boko Haram fighters currently in detention.
Saleh, however declined questions on whether the girls had truly been moved across the Nigerian border and on whether al-Qaeda was the sponsor of Boko Haram.
“No, no. I will not tell you anything about this,” he said. “But they are my brothers in Islam. Even in America, we have brothers.”
On whether Boko Haram intends to kidnap more girls, he said: “Yes, there are plans; yes.”
