UBE Board Member Wants Safety In School Curriculum
A member of the board, Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Rivers State, Mr Lucky Worlu, has advocated for introduction of safety in the school curriculum.
He made the call in Port Harcourt at a child road safety awareness programme organized by the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) in collaboration with the Rivers State Government.
The board member said the curriculum review a part of the process of domestication of the national policy would engender strong institutional attention for sensitive areas of development.
He particularly noted the imperativeness of child road safe and awareness on the general safety of the child, and commended the collaboration of SPDC and Rivers State Government on the initiative.
Mr Worlu called on other stakeholders, especially the multinational companies operating in the country to key into this initiative as to promote the safety of the child to and from school.
He further promised that the Rivers State Government would ensure that teachers were properly oriented in the area of child safety management to ensure maximum impact on the children upbringing.
The event was attended by teachers school proprietors and other state holders.
A participant, Chief Christian Okoro commended the initiative and expressed the imperativeness of joint training as, according to him, until the private school system was involved, it would be complete.
