IPPIS Enrols 237 MDAs, Fix December 31 Deadline
A? Consultant on the? Federal Government’s Integrated ?Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), Mr Kola Oladeji, says ?237 ?Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have ?been ?enrolled into ?the initiative.
Oladeji said this on Tuesday in Osogbo ?in?an interview with newsmen.
The ?IPPIS? initiative was introduced ?by the? Federal Government to computerise ?the data of workers as well as their emoluments.
Oladeji said with the introduction of ?IPPIS, the Federal Government had been able to match emoluments with actual number of workers.
He said? it was wrong to think that? government was out to rationalise its workforce with the scheme,?adding,?”it is the ?world’s ?best practice to plan on actual figures and not estimates.’’
“With the IPPIS in place, it is easy for government to plan for the welfare of its workers; know when to recruit; make recruitment transparent and to track service records,” ?Oladeji said.
The?consultant said?that with IPPIS, desk officers involved in ?payments, human resources and auditing would?still be relevant, adding that ?”only? their jobs will be automated.’’
“President Goodluck Jonathan has?directed that other MDAs ?yet to enrol in the system should?do so by the end of December.
“As soon as we are through with the enrolment stage, every MDA will have?IPPIS desk,’’ he said.
He said with the IPPIS, issues of availability and reliability of ?management information as well as other systemic deficiencies would be?addressed.
The Federal Government had ?between 2007 and 2010?reduced personnel costs in MDAs ?by N12 billion.
