MWUN, FOT Onne Unit Elects Inyang Chairman
The maritime Workers
Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Rivers State, the umbrella body of seafarers, Seamen, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and Water Transports has inaugurated a new unit at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Onne Port Complex with Comrade Emmanuel Elijah Inyang as its chairman.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of MWUN, Rivers State, Comrade Jonah Jumbo said the creation of FOT unit at Onne was to create more job opportunity, expand the unit, and make exploit in the unit.
Comrade Jumbo said the decision to separate Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) AND Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT) in Onne was to maintain peace and enjoined the unit executives to aim at the sky as their limit by leaving a legacy on the sands of time at the end of their tenure.
He expressed joy over the conduct and maturity of members of the unit stressing that it showed togetherness and charged the new Exco to run an open door administration by carrying all along, create job opportunities for the workers where necessary and ensure that the unit grow from strength to strength.
In their goodwill messages, a former Vice President General of the union, Chief Alfred Otobo-Alama and the zonal chairman of Senior Merchant Navy Officer, Comrade Bob Yesua. said they are happy to witness the activities of the day and appealed to all to work together, co-operate, be their brothers keeper and move the union and the unit to greater heights. In his response, the newly elected chairman of FOT unit, Onne, Comrade Emmanuel Elijah Inyang thanked all those that had made the election a huge success and that he would live up to expectation on the onerous task before him with God on his side and the co-operation and support of all members.
Comrade Inyang promised to make FOT Onne unit of the union a reference point in maritime sector in the state, and assured of carrying all members along as it is time for action, further soliciting for their support to make their dreams come true.
Other executives elected were Comrade Joseph Nkwa Obari-Vice Chairman Godfrey Owo-Secretary, James Adokiye – Asst Secretary, Charity Jinyemiema- Treasurer and Geogian Daniel – Special Female member while Benjamen Sungkor became the organizing secretary.
Comrades Obunge Okoseimiema, Asigane Bari Kpasi Nwate Lloyd and Gift Lale Danwi were sworn-in as Ex-office members.
Other stakeholders that graced the occasion include the state secretary of MWUN, Comrade Eze Robert, the Treasurer, Felix Okuru, the Financial Secretary, Prince Isesele, Trustee, Walter Levi, Dan Peterside and the state MWUN Sea Taskforce chairman, Ibiebele Emmanuel
