VC Charges Students On Computer Lab
The Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Barth Okolo, has called on students of the institution to make maximum use of the university’s computer laboratory to achieve academic excellence.
He made the call in Nsukka on Wednesday during the inauguration of 400 laptop computers donated by Fidelity Bank Plc.
He said that making good use of ICT would enable them to compete favourably with their counterparts in other parts of the world.
“No university in the 21st century will achieve meaningful development and breakthrough without adequate ICT facilities,” he said.
Okolo thanked Fidelity Bank for the gesture, saying that the university and the bank had had good relationship over the years.
“The bank has already installed 100 HP laptops and promised to install the remaining 300 in no distant time.
“On behalf of the staff and students of the university, I express my heartfelt appreciation to the bank for its contribution to the education sector,’’ the VC said.
In his remark, the Executive Director, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo, said the bank decided to fund the project in appreciation of the VC’s ‘good work’ since he assumed office.
He said the gesture was also part of the bank’s corporate responsibility to the public.
“Fidelity Bank always makes its impacts positively on the lives of the people where it operates as a way of discharging its corporate responsibility.
“We know that whatever is done to the university will benefit Nigerians across the country.
“The bank will continue to contribute its quota to improve the quality of education in the country,” Okonkwo said.
