RSSDA Scholarship Beneficiary Bags Distinction In UK … Another Becomes Flying Officer
A beneficiary of the 2012/2013 Governor’s Special Overseas Scholarship Programme for a Master’s Degree Programme, Abbey Samuel Jonah, has completed his studies as the best graduating student at Coventry University, United Kingdom.
Jonah came out with an overall average of 76.8 Per cent (Distinction) in Civil and Structural Engineering and best M.Sc Research Project.
In a letter of appreciation to the agency, Jonah said “my success would not have been possible without you and the transparency of your administration’’.
“As an orphan, you have given me hope, you have given hope to my entire family and generations to come because this opportunity will be properly utilized,” he concluded.
Pledging to give back to the state which has made his dreams come through, Jonah said, “Words are not enough to express my gratitude but this will be displayed through my involvement and commitment towards the overall development of the state”.
The Governor’s Special Overseas Scholarship Programme is one of RSSDA’s flagship programmes through which over 1.200 young Rivers men and women, including the physically challenged and non indigenes are currently studying in ten overseas countries for degrees in medicine, engineering, ICT and geosciences.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has achieved another milestone in building useful skills and capacity for self development for the youth of Rivers State with the qualification of Christian Okobie as a Flying Officer.
Okobie, an indigene of Orominizungbu in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, received RSSDA’s full sponsorship in June 2010 to train as commercial pilot at the Springbok Aviation Academy, South Africa.
