Board Inducts 247 New Members, Registers 19 Firms
President of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, (QSRBN) Malam Husaini Dikko, last Wednesday inducted 247 new professionals and 19 newly registered practising firms.
Dikko said at the induction ceremony and the maiden edition of the Quantity Surveyors Professional Clinic on Ethics and Values, said the number, brought the number of registered quantity surveyors to 200 and practising firms to 150.
He urged the members to use the available opportunities in the profession to enhance the nation’s growth and development.
According to him ethics, values and integrity are critical factors in professionalism, without these three there can be no professionalism.
“You must, therefore, strive to earn and sustain the trust and confidence of all those, who use your services,’’ he said.
Dikko also urged them to build their reputation on prudent and expert management of the resources of their clients.
He stressed the need for surveyors to assist the government in fund management in the building and construction sector of the economy
“The transformation agenda of the Federal Government, which is anchored on our national vision 20:20:20 imposes a lot of responsibilities on registered quantity surveyors.
“As a registered quantity surveyor, we must assist the government in prudent management of funds in the building and construction sector of the economy
“In this way we can plug the current loophole and checkmate antics of those, who exploit ignorant decision makers to inflate project cost in Nigeria,” he said.
He urged the inductees to take the oath of duty as a golden rule at all times in their professional activities as registered quantity surveyors.
Dikko warned against sharp practises by unqualified members.
“We are not unaware of the presence of some persons, especially non–Nigerians, who are practising as quantity surveyors in Nigeria in clears violation of the Act setting up the board.
