JUSUN Harps On ICT Training For Members
For the judicial arm of government to actualise its current reform aimed at quick and effective dispensation of justice in the country, it is imperative for judiciary staff to be computer literate.
The Chairman, Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Rivers State branch, Comrade George Sokari made the assertion Tuesday in Port Harcourt in an interview with The Tide.
He disclosed that it was in a bid to actualise ICT compliance workforce that the management and the union, in partnership with two computer firms embarked on training programme for JUSUN members in the state.
Comrade Sokari who advised the judiciary staff to take the training seriously to update their computer literacy stressed that “computeratively, the world is a global village and for you to keep abreast with fast moving world, you must be literate computer wise”.
“In the next 10-15 years from now, you may not cope without computer literacy because virtually every table would need computer to function”, he maintained.
Comrade Sokari said, the staff strength of the judiciary was okay but noted that what was of prime importance was service delivery adding that Nigeria democracy demands so much from the judiciary which is the third arm of the government.
He reiterated the aim of his administration to restore the union’s lost glory through holistic rebranding and vigorous pursuit of staff welfare.
“All benefits accruing to JUSUN members shall be pursued with vigour. We also need enhanced package, palliative measures now that subsidy has been removed”, he explained.
While calling on workers to remain committed to duty, Comrade Sokari promised to be transparent in all dealings with staff, prompt and adequate dissemination of information and urged members to rally round the union leadership and bring positive suggestions that would enable the union move forward.
