Delta To Establish ICT Park In Asaba
Delta State government is to establish an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Park in Asaba, to enhance the economic development of the state,.
Senior Special Adviser to the state governor on ICT, Mr Sunny Ofili, said that the park would provide more than 15, 000 jobs.
Ofili said in Asaba, that the park would also be used to train people in computer programming in local languages.
“The intention of the government is to make the state a silicon valley of Africa.
“This project will help to change the lives of the people, because the programme is not just geared towards training job seekers but training people to become entrepreneurs.”
Ofili also disclosed that the government would increase ICT penetration in schools across the state, “to ensure that all our students are computer literate”.
This, he said, would enable them to have basic computer education “and not just access to computer’’.
Reports say that the project would be completed in five years.
