NSF: Princewill Hails Amaechi Over Games
The effort so far by the Rivers State Government of planning and eventually hosting the Games will go a long way in the discovery and exposure of new talents which would hopefully add a new lease of life to our performance potentials at International Sports Events so says Prince Tonye Princewill, has therefore joined other Nigerians to commend Governor Rotimi Amaechi for pulling off the feat of hosting this event against the odds.
He applauded him for his sheer doggedness in meeting targets he sets for himself and the state as well as noting that the Presidency’s endorsement for Rivers State as venue for the Nationals Sports Festival is a vote of confidence for the State of Security in the state. Princewill who is also a Project Engineer, said that the feat achieved in the completion of such a complex in the time it took, is also a testament to the commitment of everyone involved in the project at all levels.
Princewill expressed delight that the National Sports Festival is taking place at a time wrong signals were coming from certain parts of the country with undertones of instability. In his advice to the athletes participating in the games, reminded them that Sports is acknowledged globally as a bridge building tool and urged them to consider themselves as Peace Ambassadors of their states and regions and use the opportunity of the Festival as a time of interaction with their peers from other states and ultimately become instruments of nation building on return to their home states.
In a solidarity message to the over 1,000 athletes strong Team Rivers that placed 16th on the medal table in the last games hosted by Kaduna state in 2009, he urged them to ensure that they do their best and justify the confidence of the government and people of the state by way of support and resources.
