NOTAP, Elate Bliss Sign MoU On Indigenous Tech
The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) and the Elate Bliss, Holland, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on promotion of indigenous technology inventions through special television show.
Dr Bindir Umar, the Director-General of NOTAP, signed on behalf of his organisation, while Mr Obioha Ezekwesiri, Elated Bliss’s Chief Executive Officer for Africa, signed for his organisation on Friday in Abuja.
Umar said it was the belief of NOTAP that a technology TV Reality Show “NAIJA Inventor’’ would be used to promote the commercialisation of indigenous technology inventions in the country.
He said the show would also be used as a platform to fish out creative technological works within the country and project them to the outside world.
“We have seen the American Idol bringing out musicians of highest quality because they showcased them to Americans, and we have seen the Nigerian Idols bringing the best out of nothing to the world.
“We believe that using that particular ideal we will be able to push our technologists, engineers, our innovators and inventors naturally or formally to the next level,’’ Umar said.
He added that the project, when finally implemented would help to generate fund, create employment, promote small and medium scale enterprises as well as help to showcase the capabilities of Nigerians to the world.
“We expect that the programme will help to raise fund from financial institutions to assist innovators and inventors to refine their findings to international standard,’’ Umar said
Meanwhile, Ezekwesiri promised in an interview with newsmen that NOTAP would use the programme to bring together inventors within the country, as well as help promote and patent their inventions and products.
According to him, more than 75 inventors have already registered to participate in the reality show.
