Amaechi, A Transformational Leader -SEC DG
The Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ms Arunma Oteh has described Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State as a transformational leader considering his revolutional agenda in governance.
The Director-General stated this while speaking at a retreat in Port Harcourt for management and staff of SEC which was preceded by an inspection tour of some projects being undertaken by the state government.
She said Governor Amaechi had demonstrated clear vision and determination to promote human capital development through the provision of basic infrastructural facilities that would have direct bearing on the quality of life of Rivers people.
Ms Oteh noted that the transformation in healthcare delivery, education, security, transport, agriculture and road construction that are visible shows a leadership that attaches premium to good governance.
The SEC boss equally lauded the Governor Amaechi-led government for its strategy of engaging stakeholders in policy formulation, describing the approach as potent in the overall development of the nation.
She explained that the regulators of the Nigerian capital market decided to embark on the retreat in Port Harcourt to reach out to stakeholders and provide them with necessary information that would help them invest in the capital market.
In a paper on transformational leadership, Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi urged leaders in positions of trust to eschew corruption and use common wealth for the good of all.
Governor Amaechi called for a leadership that must be accountable, transparent and demonstrate the will to provide the basic needs of the people to improve their quality of living.
He explained that it was in the pursuit of public interest that his administration decided to embark on people-oriented projects and programmes in the areas of health, education, security, transportation and power among others.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
