Abiye Sekibo Is Playing To The Gallery – Okwukwu
The suspended chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Rivers State, Barr. Uche Okwukwu has described Dr. Abiye Sekibo as a party leader playing to the gallery.
Speaking to The Tide in an exclusive interview at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Okwukwu called on Dr. Abiye Sekibo the defeated gubernatorial candidate for the party in the April 26 elections, to stop lamenting over a lost battle.
Okwukwu, who bared his mind on several nagging issues affecting ACN in the state, said Dr. Abiye Sekibo had the opportunity to win but lost the gubernatorial election, because of absence of a political structure.
He accused the party leader of fighting a media war when he had already withdrawn the case against Governor Chubuike Amaechi at the Election Petition Tribunal.
The ACN chairman, noted that the ACN leader had the opportunity to fight and win but he lost.
“He went to court, to establish and prove his case and be declared governor or get the election nullified, he withdrew and cited some reasons for his withdrawal, so, I don’t know where he is going to next”, he said.
He also noted that Governor Amaechi’s political profile has risen higher and above that of Sekibo, adding that the 63 thousand votes in favour of Dr. Sekibo during the guber election came as a mistake.
The ACN chairman advised Sekibo whom he described as his “Oga”, to hold on till 2015 when he can actually test his popularity again.
According to him, Sekibo’s press briefing last Friday was belated, explaining that the reason for such serious issue such as withdrawing a law suit should have been done earlier.
He, therefore, urged Dr. Sekibo to join forces with Governor Amaechi in order to enable him complete his good works for the state.
It would be recalled that Dr. Abiye Sekibo granted a media briefing last Friday to explain, among other issues, why he withdrew his suit against Amaechi.
