Edo Will Sweep Gymnastics Medals- Asst Coach
Oni Erhunmwunse, assistant gymnastic coach for Edo says the state will sweep the medals in the gymnastics event in the 17th National Sports Festival.
Edo is presenting 8 gymnasts,four females and four males.
Gymnastics has 14 gold,14 silver and 14 bronze medals. But Erhunmwunse said the lack of some apparatus or facilities for the games, the festival will feature three events for girls and three for boys.
He told correspondents in Port Harcourt that despite threats from states like Delta,Ogun,Rivers Lagos, Ekiti, Edo would have the upper hand in Gymnastics.
He said Edo has dominated the game in national tournaments and that the 17th National Sports Festival would not be an exception.
He said the state would not underrate its rivals in gymnastics as doing so would be a big mistake in such a national sports meet.
The coach said Edo is poised to takes its position in gymnastics.
“We came here to win and at the same time I know that yes , we will do our best to win because we are prepared.
“I have 8 gymnasts,four females,four males .But for now, the states Edo Delta,Ogun, Lagos ,Ekiti,about 6 states, I mean, dragging first and second,we have been carrying first all these while,other states have been pushing for second.
“I think we are still coming back again to take our position,’’ he said.
Erhunmwunse said gymnastics event at the festival would be keenly constested for as other states would be out to dethrone Edo during the games.
