‘Drop Petitions Against Jonathan, Amaechi’
A minister of God in
Rivers State, Evangelist Chukwuma .N. Abraham has advised the leadership of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) against challenging the victory of president Goodluck Jonathan in court.
The advise was coming on heels of the CPC petitions of the election tribunal challenging the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in the April 9, general election.
Evangelist Abraham, who is the founder of Christian Outreach Ulu Ehuda in the Ahoada East Local Government Area also sent similar advise to the leaderships of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Rivers State and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) counterpart against challenging the victory of Governor Chibuike Amaechi in the court.
The man of God who spoke to The Tide in an interview in Port Harcourt and that challenging the outcome of the Presidential said Governorship election in Rivers State would be counter productive as God has already endorsed the victory of both President Jonathan and Governor Amaechi.
According to him, God has revealed to him that no matter the action by the various opposition parties, those elected to rule will continue to rule.
“The lesson is that, those going to court will end up coursing more doom to themselves and the nation, so, if they believe God, they should go back and rethink.
The clergyman, who sited the Bible portions of Ezekiel 33.9 and Isaiah 21:11 to buttress his point, urged politicians to be careful inorder not to offend God, adding that God has already approved the victories of the president and Governor Amaechi.
He also used the occasion to advise the Governor to beware of sycophants, stressing that that he should seek the face of God in all his dealings.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
