Vote Best Guber Candidate, Amaechi Tells Rivers People
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has called on the people of the state to vote for the best governorship candidate during the governorship election that has the capacity to deliver the state from years of suffering and under-development.
Governor Amaechi stated this Wednesday during a special prayer session for the state and the political sector, at Banquet Hall, Government House, Port Harcourt under the ministration of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The Governor said the people of the state should seek the face of God to help them produce the best governor that would appreciate the problems of the people, noting that the people of the state had suffered enough in the past.
He also advised the people to be guided in their choice of leaders, emphasising that a good leader should be God-fearing and has the interest of the generality of the people of the state at heart.
“You should not vote for me or anybody for voting sake, but for the best candidate that can deliver the necessary changes required in the present Rivers State,” Governor Amaechi declared, and prayed God to help the people make the best choice among the governorship candidates of the various parties.”
The governor recalled that in 2006, he surrendered his governorship ambition to God and despite the initial manipulations of some powerful men, God proved Himself and made him governor of the state. He noted that he declared his intention to seek a second term in office in the House of God, knowing that popularity alone could not make him win election but through the hand of God.
Governor Amaechi said his regular prayers were for God to forgive him his mistakes and guide him to fulfill the vow of leading Rivers people, deliver good services that would touch the poor. He said that it was his vision for a better deal that informed the policy of free healthcare and free education in the state.
He thanked Pastor Adeboye for coming to the state and appealed to him to pray for peaceful elections in Nigeria and Rivers State as well as for total restoration of peace.
In his sermon, Pastor Enoch Adeboye said God honours those that honour Him, and noted that Governor Amaechi had always acknowledged God in his life.
The Minister of God also prophesied that God would soon do a great thing in Rivers State, as those that were faithful with the little opportunity they had had, would be elevated to greater heights.
The special session featured prayers for peace in Nigeria and Rivers State as well as successful elections, while the only lesson of the service was read by the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru.
