Bureau Issues Assets Declaration Forms To Oyinlola,Others
Mr Aramide Akinola, the Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Osun, says that the Bureau has issued assets declaration forms to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Akinola said this in an interview with newsmen in Osogbo on Friday.
He said that Oyinlola’s deputy, Mrs Olusola Obada, and some other political office holders in the last state administration were also given the forms.
Akinola said that the Bureau had contacted the 30 local government chairmen, whose tenure was terminated by a Supreme Court verdict on Dec.17, 2010, to declare their assets.
He said that the Bureau had also issued assets declaration forms to Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy, Mrs Titilayo Tomori.
“As soon as the state House of Assembly clears the appointees of the governor, the Bureau will give them assets declaration forms to fill and whenever their tenure ends, we will give them a new set of forms to fill,’’ he said.
While reviewing the agency’s activities in 2010, Akinola said that 8,922 completed assets declaration forms were returned to the Bureau out of 11,625 forms issued out, while 7,308 acknowledgment slips had been issued out.
He said that 51 names of defaulters were forwarded to the CCB Headquarters in 2010 for onward transfer to the Code of Conduct Tribunal for prosecution.
Besides, Akinola said that 36 nominal rolls were collected from different government agencies in 2010, adding that eight nominal rolls were from the state government, while 23 were from local governments.
He, however, said that five nominal rolls were received from federal organisations in the state.
Akinola said that the CCB was playing a vital role in curbing corruption in the three tiers of government, adding that the agency was working in collaboration with ICPC and EFCC.
“EFCC and ICPC normally refer to CCB for clarification on the assets’ declaration of any public officer or political office holder whose case is under investigation; they then compare notes on the information,’’ he said.
Akinola said that the CCB in Osun had been highly committed to its objectives which included the maintenance of a high standard of morality in the conduct of government business, while ensuring that people abided by the extant rules on assets’ declaration“.
He said that the Bureau organised a public enlightenment workshop for selected local government officials in the state last year.
