HOS Extols Late Egobueze’s Sterling Qualities
The Rivers State Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Esther Anucha has described late Chief Anthony Egobueze as a man of honour and integrity whose exemplary leadership qualities have brought succour to many civil servants in the State.
Mrs. Anucha who stated this Wednesday at a Service of Songs held in honour of late Egobueze at the Alfred Diete Spiff Civil Centre said the good works he rendered in the State Civil Service and to humanity will continue to reverberate in the lives of all who had come in contact with him.
She urged all civil servants to emulate his legacies of dedication to duty and hard work and prayed God Almighty to comfort his family and the civil service.
In his Homily, the Parish Priest of All Saints Catholic Church, Rumueme, Very Reverend Festus Okafor said he was completely devastated when he heard the news of the brutal murder of Chief Egobueze whom he described as a peace-loving gentleman and a devoted member of his parish.
He decried the high crime rate in the country and called on all criminally-minded individuals to repent stressing that there is judgement after life on earth.
Very Reverend Okafor enjoined all to live their lives in conformity with Jesus’ teachings on the Kingdom of Heaven and the attainment of eternal life, noting that late Egobueze imbibed the phrase ‘action for salvation,’ doing everything with the mind of achieving salvation.
In a vote of thanks, the first son of the deceased, Mr. Anthony Egobueze who thanked the state government, the Head of Service, the Ndoni community and all those who identified with them in their period of grief said he took consolation in the words ‘God thank you’ which were the usual words of his father in good and bad times.
The occasion also featured choral renditions by the Rivers State Civil Service Choir, All Saints Catholic Church Rumueme and the old boys of Baptist High School, while the last daughter of the deceased, Judith Egobueze and the second son, Superintendent of Police (SUPOL) Edwin Egobueze read the first and second lessons at the Service of Songs.
