FG Reassures States Of Refund On Federal Roads
The Federal Government has reassured State Governments that it would make refunds to those who have rehabilitated federal roads out of need.
President Goodluck Jonathan who reiterated the commitment of the federal government to the refund during his two day official visit to Akwa Ibom State, said already a Committee had been set up to ascertain the nature of the projects and its cost to facilitate the repayment.
President Jonathan also noted that the Committee had the mandate to negotiate with states that need refund as a way of encouraging them for intervening on federal roads to ameliorate the plight of the people.
He noted that the Federal government was determined to fast track development in the country through collaboration with the state and local governments as well as other stakeholders in the Nigerian project.
The President, who commissioned the first phase of the Ibom International Airport, an E-Library project amongst others embarked upon by Akwa Ibom State Government was hosted to a civic reception during the visit and also addressed a town hall meeting before departure for Abuja.
Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was among several other governors that attended the President’s visit to Akwa Ibom which included the governors of Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Ondo , Anambra and Abia States.
Other dignitaries include former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ministers, Members of State and National Assemblies, traditional rulers, PDP chieftains and captains of industries.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
