‘Amaechi Should Go For 2nd Term’
An Abuja-based elder statesman of Rivers state extraction has urged the state Governor , Rt. Hon Chituike Amaechi to go for second term after following his track record between 2007 and now .
The elder statesman, Chief Tubonijo Brown, who is the out – going President of Kalabari Community – ‘Kalabari Koibiri – in Abuja also appealed to the people of the state to rally-round the governor for a second term to enable him consolidate on the ‘good works ‘ he is doing in the state.
Chief Brown who was baring his mind to The Tide On Sunday at the Rivers state liaison office, Abuja shortly after a meeting of the-Rivers state community (RIVCOM) Abuja said his call is predicated on his conviction that the governor “is doing a good job (in a way ) that is better than (that of) hid predecessors:?
The ASALGA chief said, “we want him to go for second term. I’m a kalabari son andI’m saying (Governor) Rotimi Amaechi should go for second term,. he is performing. Whoever that is performing (should be supported). The elders say, he who washes his hand eat with the elders so Rotimi Amaechi should be in the Government House in 2011 (October 27, 2o11)”
Chief Brown contimed , “I don’t think he has anyone to fight with (at the elections). God will bring him back for Rivers people. We want him to continue from where he’ll stop (in his first term). I know that he’ll also be given the wisdom for a second term”.
The elder statesman advised the governor to decentralize the state ministries to local Government areas due to what he calls “ the chocking –up of Port-Harcourt,” saying, “ Look at places like Ahoada, Bori – they have vast land . If the ministries are decentralize to these areas, Port-Harcourt will be abit free’.
Chief Brown also advised governor Amaechi to extend his development strides more to the rural areas because, according to him, “if you look at Rivers states today, there are areas that don’t have electricity and water ;there are no bridges connecting the rural areas – the villages so the governor should also deliver these duridends of democracy to the rural dwellers”.
