Music Lovers In High Spirits …As New Albums Hit PH Market
Music lovers in oil rich Rivers State are in high spirits as new albums flood the Port Harcourt market while traders enjoy increase in sales. Among the albums making waves in the market and enjoying high patronage from fans and music lovers are:
‘One by One’: A debut album by Olawatosin Anifowoshe aka ‘Side One’ whose album was released under Spring Records label. The album has 14 tracks and featured Terry G, Sheyman, Don Dream, O Black among others.
Just few weeks since the album was unveiled, it has won Side One Global Excellence Artiste of the month (March) Award. The One by One Exponent was amongst Street Hop nominees at the just concluded Hip-Hop world awards which he lost to his producer, Terry G.
Ahamefula: ‘Ahamefula’ is the album title of Duncan Mighty’s latest album which is currently making waves in Port Harcourt market and its environs. The album which was mixed, mastered and produced by the Ikwerre-born musician has 15 soul inspiring trackes.
‘Show Me The Money: This serves as follow up to the singles dropped by the ‘Elepepe’ master Adegboyega Yusuf Adekoya last year titled, Feel It which featured multiple award winner 2 Face. The new single which was unveiled few weeks ago is to wake up the singers target audience and majority of Lineo fans as he is also known love the new song and are clamouring for more.
3rd Avenue: This is the third album by the ‘Lord of Ajasa’, produced by K. Solo, the new album features notable names like YQ, Dagrin, Isolate, Klever J, The Suspect and Reminisce. The album is already enjoying high sales in the market and it places Ajasa on the podium of relevance again.
The Legend: The legend is the latest album by the elegant stallion Onyeka Onwenu after 11 long years of missing in action in the music scene. Spinning off 14 tracks in all, the unique aspect of the new album is its packaging which boasts of solidity, depth, creativity and completeness. Sure it is an epitome of a well thought-out presentation both in lyrical cum instrumental and aesthetic offering.
All said, Onyeka has proved that she is the singer that she has always been, not in the verge of giving up her place in the industry, no wonder the CD is in high demand in the market.
D-Rebirth: Timaya’s latest album D-Rebirth is also making waves in the market particularly among his numerous fans in the state. The album is about his reawakening as an artiste and the new things he has up his sleeve. He is also using the new work to reply people, the media and the church for the way he is perceived in the larger society. He talks about why the media is hard on him and why the church should not see him as a man who would come to such hallowed and holy grand to fight. But, time will tell as Nigerians watch what becomes of the new Egberi Papa.
Meanwhile, Prince Uche Onumba, a popular Port Harcourt based dealer in musical equipment and CDs who spoke with our Entertainment Desk on Tuesday described the business as very lucrative in the state as people here are interested in music which is very encouraging not only to them the traders, but the musicians themselves most of who come to organize shows in the state.
