RSG Poised To Reform Water Sector- Commissioner
The Rivers State Government is poised to reform the water sector for efficient service delivery and has promised to reach the grassroot areas with its water scheme in order for the people of the state to have a well-treated, quality, potable and affordable water in the state.
The Commissioner for water Resources and Rural Development, Ms Patricia Simon Hart stated this when the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF) led by its president, Mr. Furo Gift paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
Ms. Hart described the water sector as technical and Capital-Intensive, assuring that the Ministry would come up with a holistic master plan to achieve result.
The Water Resources and Rural Development boss hinted that plans are on the way to organize a stakeholders forum on water in the state, as she assured to also incorporate the youths to make meaningful contributions for the way forward.
The Commissioner, Ms Patricia Hart also used the forum to reaffirm her commitment to ensuring Governor Amaechi’s Vision especially in the areas of delivery of quality potable water to the people of Rivers State, in which she said Bonny would not be left behind.
Ms Patricia Hart further called on the youths to see themselves as partners in progress with Government, urging them to take advantage of the various empowerment programmes such as the skill acquisition and scholarship scheme of this present administration so as to better their lot.
Earlier, the group’s president, Mr. Furo Gift called for the establishment of a good working relationship between the youths and Ministry, commending His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for appointing two Commissioners from Bonny to service in his cabinet.
Mr. Furo Hart further described Ms Hart as a technocrat, expressing optimism in the capacity of the Commissioner to perform credibly and effectively.
In his vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. P. E. Nwankwoala thanked the delegation for the visit as he assured of the staff cooperation to assist the Hon. Commissioner succeed.
