Kebbi Assembly Summons Ex-governor Aliero Over N30bn
The former governor of Kebbi State and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammed Aliero has been summoned by the Kebbi State House of Assembly to defend himself over an alleged debt of N30 billion left behind in 2007 which the present administration inherited.
Kebbi State House of Assembly last weekend in a resolution by a majority voted directed the former governor to appear before it within 45 days of the defence.
The House also banned the former commissioner of finance through a majority vote, Saimaila Bui from holding public office in Kebbi state for 10 years for making false claims and submission while defending the allegation of the said debt and liabilities before the House in May this year.
The decision of the House to invite the former governor and the 10 years ban on former commissioner was conveyed to the entire House through the report submitted at the floor of the House by the chairman of the committee on Public Account, that was set up in May to probe the activities of the former governor and his finance commissioner.
The chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Ahmed Kandanho had stated that the former commissioner of finance, Bui who served in both Adamu and Aliero’s administration handed over a debt portfolio of 3.728 billion as at May 29th, 2007, and that there was no single kobo to the then permanent secretary in the ministry of finance to run the office.
