Unknown Gunmen Kill Man In Ahoada West
Unidentified gunmen have gunned-down Mr Ogadinma Eric Joel, 52, at Owube Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Tide gathered that Mr Joel, a former General Secretary of the Community was cycling home from Oboburu, a neigbouring community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) where he had spent the night when he was attacked.
Narrating the incident, ex-president of the community youth body who craved anonymity said that the hoodlums waylaid Mr Joel, who used to sleep at Oboburu on his way home between Owube and Oboburu. While he was shot on the forehead his bicycle was not spared in the attack, our source said.
He said that the killers soon after they had committed the heinous crime used their victim’s phone to contact the family; informing them to carry the corpse of their brother whom the hoodlums alleged was chasing them with OSPAC.
“You know for over times now our people have not fully slept at home due to attacks from the cult boys; Eric sleeps at Oboburu every night, he was riding on his bicycle before the boys attacked him,” the ex-president explained.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased engaged army in the area to assist them to convey the corpse to an undisclosed morgue.
However, The Tide gathered that Owube is the flashpoint of the cultists as those of ONELGA meet their Ekpeye counterparts in their bush. Also the residents have suffered atrocities ranging from destruction of property, thefts, kidnaps, loss of lives, among others.
Effort to reach the DPO Ahoada West LGA failed as he did not pick his call.
