‘Ensure All Eligible Voters Are Registered’
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been advised to ensure it creates an enabling environment that would guarantee that those who have attained the age of 18 years and above are registered during the on-going voters registration exercise across the state.
The Onuowu I of Igbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of the State, Chief Kemakolom Nwanuo made this appeal while speaking with journalists at his palace Otube community, Igbo Etche over the weekend.
Chief in Nwanuo who is also the Prime minister of Otube community urged the commission to ensure that the exercise was hitch-free to ensure that eligible voters in Igbo Kingdom and across the local government area are registered during the exercise.
According to him, if the commission conducts a smooth exercise, it will record a positive result.
The Otube community leader used the opportunity to call on both indigenes and non-indigenes residing in the area who are 18 years and above and have not obtained their voters card to ensure they are registered.
He averred that the voters card would be their power to choose those who will govern them, adding that without the card, they will not participate effectively in deciding who would be their future leaders.
He called on INEC to ensure that the people accessed the registration centres as well as ensure that the exercise is decentralised.
The Onuowu advised the people of Igbo Kingdom to continue to remain peaceful, and maintain their hospitable posture they were noted for period and promised to continue to promote peace in the area.
