Students Seek Cultural Revival
The National Union of Etche Students (NUES) has urged for
policies and programmes that would ensure the revival of the rich cultural
heritage of Etche ethnic nationality.
The President, National Union of Etche Students, Comrade
A.B. Iroanya Golden, who said this during the Etche cultural week organised by
the National Union of Etche Students (NUES), Ignatius Ajuru University of
Education, said that time has come for the people of Etche to revive and
showcase their cultural heritage to the world.
Comrade Iroanya Golden described the cultural week as very
successful and urged the students to show commitment not only to the union, but
to Etche ethnic group.
Also speaking, the Head of Department of Economics, Ignatius
Ajuru University of Education, Dr. G.C. Nwaeke said that Etche people are known
with a good culture, stressing that time has come for the people to revive
their culture.
Dr. Nwaeke, who was also the chairman of the occasion, said
that because of the importance of culture in the life of a community, the
school decided to set aside a day whereby students can celebrate their culture.
Also speaking, the patron of the union, Dr. Gift Uchenna
Nwiyi, urged the students to be serious with their studies, especially now that
the semester examination is fast approaching.
The event also witnessed a special dance of Miss Ohale Gift,
the Ada Etche.
