Work On Rumuwoji Market Excites Traders
Traders at the Rumuwoji, (Mile 1) Market in Port Harcourt, have expressed gratitude at the commencement of work on the second phase of the market by the Rivers State Government.
When The Tide visited the project site last Wednesday, some traders interviewed were full of joy that the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration has taken the bull by the horn to ensure that the market is completed for use by the traders who had for a long time been carrying out their businesses in makeshit stalls for the past ten years.
One of the traders a foodstuffs seller in the market, Mr. John Nwadiaro, who spoke with our correspondent said that, he is very happy with the commencement of work on the second phase of the market, adding that, the market when completed would bring back all the traders who sell in the market before the fire incident that occurred in the market which tore them apart.
Another respondent, a meat seller, Kingsley Monday, told The Tie that it will be of great help to him and other traders, if the government will quickly complete the project.
“I am very happy with the commencement of work on the second phase of the Mile 1 market”, asserted Mrs Grace Godwin, a fish seller, that it will help her and other traders in the market.
“Because of the present condition of the market, all our customers are no longer coming to buy from us”, she lamented.
Mrs Patience Tom, a respondent said that the commencement of work on the second phase of the market, has given her and other traders in the market the hope for enjoyment in the nearest future, because as she puts it, “when the project is completed, it will save us from suffering under the rain”.
