Commissioner Charges Woji People On Peace
The Rivers State Commis
sioner for Works, Engr. Kelvin Wachukwu has charged Woji community in Obio/Akpor Local Government to maintain peace and stability to enable development and dividend of democracy reign in the state.
The commissioner said this when representatives of Woji Council of Chiefs visited his office last Friday in Port Harcourt.
Wachukwu thanked Woji community for acknowledging the commitment of Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration in giving their roads a face lift.
Wike during his electioneering campaign, pledged to give face lift to roads in all part of the state, it is not by speculation, propaganda or lies but a reality that we can see today, he said.
Regarding the request made on the areas affected by flood on the on-going project in Woji, the commissioner assured the people that a team of engineers in the ministry would be sent to proffer quick solution in rectifying the problem.
“I will give it a quick attention as soon as I get the feedback from the engineers,” he assured.
Speaking earlier, the traditional Prime Minister of Woji Kingdom, Chief Tony Chukwu, on behalf of the people, thanked the Wike-led administration for the urgent attention given to Woji road at his resumption of office, adding that “for the past eight years, Woji people have suffered a lot of set back as a result of bad road.”
Chukwu pleaded with the commissioner to tackle the issue of flood affecting Woji/Rumuogba axis and to construct covets at Ihunwo Street and Woji junction, respectively for free flow of water during raining season, and requested for an alternative route to be created for people to access Woji Estate.
