Cleric Harps On Unity
Christians have been urged
to make unity of purpose their watch word at all times in order to encourage harmonious living.
The elder of Adventist Church, Nkpolu Rumuigbo, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, Elder Ezekiel Rajah gave the advice during a church service tagged Wonders of Church Unity, organised by the church last Saturday.
He wondered why people, particularly Christians always emphasised the slogan of unity of purpose while in their hearts encouraged disunity.
The man of God further said that God’s purpose of creating man was for them to co-exist harmoniously, adding that sin separated God from mankind.
According to Elder Rajah, God encourages partnership, pointing out that there is greater productivity and good reward when people live in peace and unity.
“As Christians irrespective of language or ethnic background, we should see one another as brothers and sisters with a common purpose,” he stated.
Quoting the book of Ecclesiastes, chapter four verses 9 to 12, Elder Rajah said that two are better than one because they have good reward for their labours.
He, therefore admonished the congregation to always be in unity “because Jesus Christ is faithful and forgives us our sins”.
